Welcome Straubinger Phoenix Flute Pads When David Straubinger's shop burned in November, 2008, one set of his newly patented pads survived unscathed -- the first set of pads made for the Avanti Flute.

Destined to be used for Avanti, and seemingly rising out of the ashes of his shop, the pads were immediately named the Straubinger Phoenix Pad™ after the mythical bird that rises from its smoldering ashes to be reborn.
Straubinger Phoenix Pad Schematic Ideal for use on production flutes, the Straubinger Phoenix™ Flute Pad produces a similar superior response, longevity with regards to adjustments, and the freedom of musical expression afforded by the traditional Straubinger™ Pad.

Bickford Brannen
In 1978, Bickford Brannen and his brother Robert co-founded Brannen Brothers-Flutemakers, Inc., and he continues to serve as Director of Research and Development. He has frequently collaborated with other flutemakers, including Albert Cooper, Johan Brögger, David Straubinger, Eva Kingma, and most recently Conn-Selmer and the Avanti Flute. In January 2007, he celebrated the completion of 45 years as a flutemaker.
