THE STRAUBINGER PAD CERTIFICATION TRAINING is an intensive three-day course, designed specifically to cover the concepts, methods of application, and procedures required to install Straubinger™ Pads correctly. This very specific training is designed exclusively for experienced repairmen. General flute repair is not a part of this workshop, although David will discuss many aspects of flute repair as it pertains to the Straubinger™ Pad.

EACH WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT will receive a set of custom-made tools, and a complete set of Straubinger™ Pads. The cumulative value is approximately $500. During the workshop, participants install these pads in the flute they bring with them. The workshop fee is offset by potential income from the training, the re-padded flute, (which may belong to one of your customers), and the value of the supplies received. All of this is for the one fee: $1,500, including the written training materials. ($100 extra if attending the Clarinet Certification session Sunday morning.)

In addition, lunches are provided on-site as well as other refreshments and snacks. Transportation is provided by David and his son, Joel. Straubinger Flutes also hosts the ice-breaker dinner on Sunday and also, the special dinner at a top-rated local restaurant on Tuesday evening.

Certification is not a guarantee, based on enrollment. Rather, it is awarded entirely on performance and comprehension of the covered materials. Final decisions are at the discretion of David Straubinger. Full installation of the Pads by each Technician is required unless there are extenuating circumstances. There is close supervision and help throughout the session and David assures the group is small enough to allow for much individual help. Workshop participants should have sufficient flute repair experience to complete the pad replacement process successfully and to demonstrate a clear understanding of the process. All work is done in a small group setting under the direct supervision and guidance of David Straubinger.

WE ASK THAT YOU BRING one hand-made flute that has been cleaned, keys swaged, arbors fitted, tone holes resoldered, if necessary, and in general, all work performed to the point at which you would begin the padding process. We also suggest that you bring small hand tools, such as screwdrivers, grommet tools, and spring hook, etc. However, we can supply you with any tool you inadvertently leave at your home shop. We ask that you tell us in advance what model and brand of flute you will bring so we can supply the correct tools and pads for you.
